Various Blue Screen Messages At Start Up With No Beep

Every morning when I boot up, I get one of the following messages,RAM R/W failed, REGISTRY ERROR, SYSTEM-SERVICE EXCEPTION, SETWINDOWLONGS, STOP:0X0000007E, GRAPHICS ERROR.

I am using an ASUS M4A785TD-V-EVO mobo, AMD ATHLON IIX4 630 CPU, G.Skill 4 Gig Memory, Western Digital Black Hard Drive, 750 Watt Power Supply. I am using LITE-ON sata DVD as master and LITE-ON IDE DVD as slave, no installed floppy. WINDOWS 7 Home Premium as O/S. Once it boots up everything runs fine, no crashes, error screens, etc.

I re-start 3 to 4 times before booted up, get option screen run windows normally or attempt repairs or restore to point in time worked properly. I have tried disabling IDE DVD drive, re-installing memory sticks, unplugging and plugging back in power supply, same with speaker, and no changes, still get screens at boot up. Once booted up I can re-start and no problems.

A blue screen at start up that changes is a real pain to diagnose, but, I'll give you some tricks I use.

Since you haven't specified if this computer is new or old, I'll assume you just built it and we'll start there. If you haven't just built this computer, make sure you clean your computer before you get started to make sure this isn't a heat problem.

Check Asus website to see if they have released a new BIOS version and flash the BIOS. If you aren't exactly sure what to do here and feel confident, EXACTLY follow the step by step on Asus site to flash the BIOS. If you're not completely sure what to do, don't do it.

RAM timings are really fussy, make sure you have them set to auto in the BIOS unless you know what they should be at. Follow the steps on the RAM timings page to make sure the CMOS has then set your timings properly.

Next up, if you can, try a different video card, then a different power supply. If all of the above don't work, I would try taking out every stick of RAM but 1 to see if that fixes the problem.

If all of that doesn't work, it is most likely the motherboard. You can also check the blue screen errors for some more tips.

When diagnosing a blue screen error that changes, the only way to do it properly is by eliminating every component. If you don't have spares, check what you can, then talk to a local shop, they usually have spare parts they will lend you to test for a couple of bucks.
