Ram Slot Confusion

The last computer I built was the first computer I built. I bought all the parts I thought I would need from Newegg and was excited to get the whole thing together. Unfortunately, Newegg didn't feel the same way, and separated all the parts across the country.

So eventually all the parts came together and I shut down my current computer to prepare to gut it for CD drive and Hard drive. I put the case down and was immediately stumped as to how to put the motherboard inside it when there clearly wasn't enough room for me to just put it in there. It was then that I learned that the other side of the tower case could be removed.

Finally, I got all the parts inside it and double checked to make sure that the RAM was in a proper place, since I knew how finicky computers are with RAM. I turned it on (expecting it to explode right before my eyes). It just sat there and eventually it beeped at me. I called the tech support and they didn't know what was wrong with it. So eventually I just gave up and put my old computer back together.

A week later, a friend of mine took a look at it and tried swapping RAM slots around, without the prior knowledge of how important that they be in the right place. He turned it on and low and behold it actually worked! It turns out that the manual for the motherboard had the RAM slots mislabeled.
