Prime95 Worker Starting 3 and 6 Visited

The Prime95 worker starting 3 and 6 error is something I personally searched for on the internet, and after finding almost nothing of an explanation, I did some in depth research to see what to core problem was to help the community.  You can see what I found below.

TIP! Knowing an unsuccseful overclock may take some practice, but paying attention to little details, glitches etc., will help you identify an unsuccessful overclock without having to run any benchmarks.

In this specific case, when running Prime95, the workers 3 and 6 stay at starting without progressing further.  Whether this is your exact problem when you run Prime, or you have another error or working failing to start, the remedies will typically be the same, since the cause is actually an unsuccessful overclock.

So how do you fix Prime95 worker starting 3 and 6?  It's actually simple, assuming you're just learning how to overlock, the cause is data corruption from a bad signal at the CPU level.  To remedy, there's several things you can do.

If your CPU has an unlocked multiplier and this is the method you are using to overlock, simply take and reduce the multiplier to a lower number.  As an alternative, you can slow the front side bus, or you can increase the core voltage of the CPU.

If your CPU doesn't have it's multiplier unlocked, then simply back the speed of the front side bus, or the bus speed needs to be lowered, or the voltage of the CPU can be increased.

The first recommendation I'll give you especially if this is the first time you've seen a Prime95 error, or had a program hang after overclocking is to add a little voltage, the smallest step that you can.  A little more volts often does wonders when overclocking.

Please be warned, when you are using Prime, make sure you are using a utility to monitor the temperature of your CPU.  If you have software that came with your motherboard, it's the best one to use, because the results are the most accurate.

Also keep in mind, faster speed, and more voltage are going to increase the temperature of your CPU.  Find the thermal maximum of your CPU, a simple Google search will get you this.  Get the best CPU cooler you can if you really want to push your system, then realize voltage is usually the most required thing to get a great overclock.  Often it doesn't take a lot, but it will definitley help you achieve greater results.
