Motherboard Damaged During Heat Sink Installation

by Ram

I am very glad to share my experience of built my own PC. It took me 3 months to purchase parts alone. I bought optical Samsung wheel mouse and Samsung multimedia keyboard. I bought a Pentium PIII 900mhz processor. So, I purchased 256MB SDRAM & Mercury motherboard related to the Intel processor, having 810 Intel chipset. It has built in audio, VGA display.

I bought CRT Monitor LG Studio works. When I was assembling motherboard in the Cabinet, I found difficult to mount the spacers at the bottom for motherboard mounting. Any way I completed, and fixed the Processor and fan. The Fan has a clip to hold the heat sink and the processor; it is very tight to lift by a screwdriver.

Suddenly, the screwdriver slipped and damaged the component parts of the motherboard, small SMD resistors were removed and tracks were damaged then I got serviced by a service engineer and again continued to assemble my PC. I fixed my SMPS, now I connected monitor, mouse and keyboard. I verified the motherboard guide for jumper settings and led termination of HDD LED and Power ON LED. Power-ON and Reset Switch termination, I found hard to locate in the motherboard. All I verified and Switch ON the PC its giving display. I fixed 80GB Seagate Hard disk, LG CD writer, Samsung Floppy Drive.

I selected boot option as CD in the BIOS menu. Using WinXP Boot disk, I partitioned and formatted the hard disk and installed my OS. I installed application software's. My PC is quite well for Photoshop and MSOffice operation and I am very happy to share my experience in building my computer.
