Liquid Cooled Rig

The last computer that I had built was a older Athlon XP system from a couple years back. It was a pretty nice system at the time, 2400 MHz. 2 gigs of RAM, 2 x 100 gig hard drives running in raid 0.

I had a sweet water cooling system setup in it cause I over clocked the thing by a few hundred MHz. I ran into a issue with that because the mounts didn't work right on that motherboard even thou it was listed on the box as to work. There is one lesson, never trust the box.

I loved building it also because it was my first water cooled system. I had been using just over sized heat sinks and industrial fans to keep the over clocked systems running. It had this sweet 900 watt power supply from PC cooling in there that was major over kill but I didn't care. I did care when the power bill came the next month. This can be over came by using the power savings options in windows.

Installing Windows and Ubuntu Linux was a fun little project to add to this rig. I installed everything and the such, then it happened. I updated both OS when I come to realize how bad of a idea it is to keep windows updated. It bricked that system faster than crack head coming off a high. Lesson learned, MS updates are terrible. All in all I learned some things, but had a fun time building a water cooled system. I would recommend it to anyone to try just once.
