I Have a Dell Computer That Will Not Boot Up

I installed internet explorer 9 while on YAHOO and didn't like the results so I uninstalled it. I turned off my computer but it started to reboot but stopped. I tried using the backup disk I created when I purchased the computer 18 months ago but nothing works. The Dell logo will display but does nothing else.

Most often, when you purchase a computer, you get the bundled software pack and not just a Windows install disk, which is what I think you're dealing with. In either case, typically, a computer does not have the boot order set to look for a CD before it boots from the hard drive. To change this, you need to go to the cmos setup and change the boot order, they're all different but the hyper link will explain in better detail.

Once you have this set up, try the disk again. This should get it booting. If you still don't have the recovery working, here are more reasons you can check why the computer will not boot up.

And finally, if you still have more trouble, post back here with your findings, we'll help you through the next steps of finding the problem.
