Hard Drive Failure

It happens from time to time, and I'm not happy to see it happened to me. A drive I've been using for years has failed on me. I can't deny it was a good failure. The drive was rock solid until the end on a computer that runs 24/7.

So what's the brand name? It was a Western Digital blue edition 250GB drive. It gave me a loud clicking warning before it crashed. This was easily enough time to make a more current backup and order a new replacement drive. It continued for 3 more days before it's finally all the way done.

Since I'm running a solid state drive in my computer currently, instead of replacing it with another raid configuration I went with another Western Digital drive, this time a black edition 1TB. I can honestly say after running it for a couple of days, I'm really happy with the performance of the drive and would recommend it to anyone.

I'd also like people to take this as a general reminder to make sure you have a current backup. You just never know when it's going to break.
