The last computer I built was quite easy. I built it with my cousin Kevin, who was very excited to build his first computer. I had built computers in the past, but I must admit, it's been quite a while. I guess I could say I was a bit rusty?
I have to say, the hardest part was finding the right case. Kevin and I knew we wanted a tower, but we didn't quite know what kind. We looked through dozens of cases until we finally came across a sharp black one. It had all of the features we we're looking for and it wasn't out of our budget range either. Kevin and I got through most of the components in easily, but we had a bit of trouble getting the motherboard on correctly. I think we screwed it on wrong and had to take it off and try again, this time using different screws and going much slower. The processor was also a bit of trouble since the heat sink was the wrong size. How did Kevin manage to get the wrong part? Luckily, I had a spare that fit on the processor perfectly. While looking through my spare parts, I also found a nice 300 GB hard drive that we plugged into the new computer, since the case we bought had room for two.
Over all it was an easy experience, but I learned a lot about being patient and thinking before acting. Kevin is not happily playing with his new home built computer and is looking forward to the next time we take on a new computer building project.
