Do Your Component Research
Computer Building has been a very frustrating experience to me at first. The first time I built my computer, I almost fried the motherboard without knowing how to properly mount it on the chassis. As the days and months went past, the initial inhibitions were forgotten and I began building a number of computers, that's when I came across my beloved friend who would almost make me run away from building any more computers.
Almost all the computers that I have built have been very much customized based on the needs of my novice friends and I used to read a lot of reviews of the components before I decided on a build, this made sure there were the least number of hardware failures. In fact we've had only two till date, and both have been due to rough handling of the part and power fluctuations. Then came one day when one of my friends asked me to build a computer for him, and that's the day I still dread. My friend was the kind who used to take a lot of time understanding things and it used to get very frustrating explaining the working of the components of a computer, so deciding on which parts to get became a drag.
Finally after deciding on the components I decide its time to get them and build one soon, that wouldn't happen as I thought!
As the parts fell in place I was eager to finish up the job and install the required software and call the day off. But then, parts started failing. First the power supply gave way; I was relieved it didn't fry the whole motherboard; we got the replacement and then continued but then realized the hard drive was defective too, that went for replacement too, then unfortunately the motherboard had a problem too which took 15days to be replaced!
The whole computer building exercise took close to 20days what could have been done in 2hours. Almost the whole system had replaced parts and my beloved friend curses me to this day for no fault of mine!!
