CPU Temp Monitor Software

A CPU temp monitor is a great tool to have if you want to see how hot your system is running, either from overclocking, or as a guide when you should clean your computer.  If you are overclocking and your CPU is running too hot, you should consider upgrading your cpu cooler, unless you're happy with the results you're getting.

The program I tried out for use is call Core Temp, as you can see in the picture below.  It's a small, free download and the temperatures were very close to numbers reported back by the motherboard software.

TIP! Personally, I use a CPU monitoring software all of the time.  I'm fairly used to seeing the temperature of my computer, If the temps start to go up, it's an indication the computer case is needing a cleaning.

TIP! When using a 3rd party program, it's a good idea to use one that you know is accurate.  This sounds a little hokey, but various free programs on the internet are out as much as 10 degrees Celsius.

If you already have software that came bundled with your motherboard, if you built your own computer, I'd recommend using that software.  Why?  It's the one supported by the motherboard, meaning, chances are, it's going to be the most accurate.  Asus pc probe, or Gigabyte's easy tune are both great programs that give you all the information you need.

Generally speaking, 60 degrees Celsius or under would be considered to be safe temperatures to be running the CPU at.  This being said, always make sure and do a quick search on Google to check the temperature limitations of your CPU.  Make sure you load all your CPU cores at max load for 15 minutes or more to see what the maximum temperature is going to be.
