Computers are one of my favorite ways to pass the time. I especially love to build them myself. I have found that the the best way for me to start is by attaching the motherboard to the computer case. Next I, install the processor into the motherboard, and then apply a thin coat of thermal paste to the processor. After that I attach the heat sink to the processor and motherboard. This usually takes me about an hour, after a few breaks I install the ram to the motherboard.
After installing the video card into the PCI express slot, I install the hard drive and the power supply connecting both of them into the motherboard. Then I connect the front panel controls and fans onto the motherboard to make sure my computer will run smoothly and be cooled in the process.
That is my basic process for building any computer. The worst part for me was that I had not built a computer in quite sometime and I recently found out processors have a separate cable from the power supply to the motherboard, I didn't notice the separate cable, and this cost me an extra hour of work because the computer will not work or turn on until the missing cable is plugged in.
The hardest part for me was applying the thermal paste, its only hard because it has to have the perfect consistency and be spread on the right way for it to properly work. This can take me up to 30 minutes just to do what should take 5.
While building my computer I realized, and learned that maybe next time I should read the motherboards manual instead of trying to do it all myself.
