Although you may think it is cheaper to build a computer made by a popular manufacturer, I beg to differ. It is cheaper for me to build my own computer. Although sometimes in the short term it isn't, in the long term, you will be way ahead.
I know it's better to build, let me help you learn how to build a computer so you can see for yourself.
A computer that you build will have components that almost always are better brand name components. What does this mean for you? It's simple, they will last longer, perform better, and require less maintenance.
To understand why it's better from a cost point of view, think of it this way. When I build my own computer versus buying one, I'll have a computer to meet the needs of what you want exactly. Because the parts have been well researched, you won't be spending as much time fixing, and more time using. If you don't like to fix your computer, you'll save on shop fees.
When it comes time to either build or upgrade your computer, you'll save again. You will probably be able to add some RAM, add the best video card, or the best sound card, or whatever you need to update the computer to make it what you need it to be. Often times, the prebuilt computers offer very little upgrade support. Since you built, you also know exactly what parts you will need.
Next, for me, it offers a lot of satisfaction. Booting up a new computer, whether it's mine, or somebody else's build is always satisfying for me. It's a custom creation coming to life. Installing Windows and watching as it makes it's way through applications with ease always lets me know the end user is going to be happy.
And finally, the reason I just love to build a computer more than anything is simply because I can't stand the hundreds of cheap software programs that come bundled and installed with a computer. It really is just nuts. I've stripped a laptop down for a local business, the result even blew me away. The bootup went from about 10 minutes, until you could do what you wanted. This after only 2 months of use, to about a minute, and the program speed was WAY faster.
Keep in mind as well, just because you want to build doesn't mean you have to go all out. Pick a budget, follow the tools I'll give you, and I am certain you'll be happy you decided to build. It's not always easy and often will require a little bit of problem solving, but you'll be happier for it in the end. Follow the link below to get started.
